Why Your Car Key May Not Turn
There are many reasons your car keys won't turn. Some fixes are simple, while others require more technical expertise or assistance from a professional.

Bent Key
The most undesirable thing that could happen with your car key is for it to become bent inside the lock or worse, it gets stuck inside. Fortunately, this type of key is usually fixed. If the key is stuck too long and is not able to be removed with normal twisting, the only option is to replace it.
The key may be worn out and unable to connect the lock wafers in a proper. It may also be a sign that you should replace the ignition cylinder, or simply purchase a new key.
If the key is still in a position to be inserted into the cylinder, but it's not aligned in the right way, you will need an hammer to flatten it. Be sure to use a hammer that is soft so as to not damage the lock cylinder or the key. You could also use the flat end on needle-nosed pliers to bend the key back into its proper alignment. It could take a few attempts to bring the key back into the proper alignment.
If the key cannot be removed from the ignition, this means that the teeth are terribly worn out and no longer properly engage the wafers. In this instance you'll need a new key as soon as possible. This can be done by taking the key stub to the dealership from which you bought your car and asking for a VIN cut key that is exactly the same as the one you had previously. This is much simpler and less expensive than trying to use the key you have already got back to normal.
